Memory is never a fixed record. We reach for it, rebuild it, and sometimes refuse to let it go. "What We Remember" brings together four artists who treat remembering as an active and often urgent practice.

Through ceramics, painting, drawing, and photography, memory is one guide among several. Observation, intuition, and discovery lead the work into the unknown territory of emotion. Each artist draws imagery by looking inward and outward simultaneously, describing emotional and psychological terrain. Grief, fear, vulnerability, and comfort become visible.

Elsewhere, portraiture becomes a form of confrontation. These reimagined portraits of women address the neglect of women's lives and the way race and gender produce invisibility. Each figure meets the viewer with an unyielding gaze. That gaze exposes the quiet violence of the archive, which preserves lives as evidence while withholding recognition of their full humanity.

Another artist turns to ancestry and cultural preservation, working across drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation. Canning jars and teacups, the humble tools of daily ritual, carry stories from one generation to the next. The black vessels, wheel-thrown and hand-built, stand as reminders of our capacity to resist, persevere, and thrive.
